Wine is one of human kinds oldest medicines. With evidence of its use as medicine dating as far back as 2200BC by the Ancient Egyptians. It continued to be used as a medicine as late as the early 20th century, after which time its medical benefits began to be cast into doubt. However at the beginning of the 21st century scientists began looking at wine's medicinal properties again as a result of the “French Paradox”. @@@@It was found that the French have the lowest rate of heart disease and obesity in the western world and one of the longest life expectancies due largely to the fact that wine, especially red wine such as merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon have been found to contain large amounts of resveratrol, a potent anti-oxidant like compound which in clinical trials has been shown to increase the life expectancy of many different kinds of organisms. Although it is difficult to run clinical trials on humans to prove the life expectancy increasing effects of wine (due to the long length of the human lifespan), it has been show to increase the life expectancy in short lived fish by up to 56%.
So if you love life and you love wine then this is all the more reason to give winegrowers direct a visit and order a couple cases of life extending vino! Cheers!
